Skin deep
Dermal tissue

A fruitful layer of brightly coloured, actively reproducing cells, sits over a dermis rich in blood supplies, nerve endings, secretory glands and spongy fat. In a constant urge to be two instead of one, the tall cells continue to divide and to push upwards the fruits of previous divisions. Upwards and onwards they go, losing their height and becoming cubical, then flat, acquiring hardness and loosing life, until they arrive to the corneal, desquamating outer layer. Like a flower’s petals, they detach, take flight, and go.
