The meaning of life for neurones lies in their connections. Axons and dendrites extend and twist and make contact nearby and at a distance. The network is three dimensional and multilayered. Impulses flow and jump: from cell to cell to cell, and back again, with microglia dotted around, to support and maintain. Somebody has to do the earthly tasks in this world of floating ideas and dreams and thoughts.
